Stoltenberg briefed journalists before the NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting to be held at NATO Headquarters in Brussels on 28-29 November.
Stating that the agreement between Hamas and Israel enabled the release of captives and the delivery of humanitarian aid, Stoltenberg said, “I call for the extension of the pause. This will ensure that the aid that the people in Gaza desperately need reaches and the release of more hostages.” said.
Stoltenberg emphasized that a permanent political solution is needed. Reminding that NATO allies have presence in countries such as Iraq and Syria, Stoltenberg said:
“We have seen drone and rocket attacks on US positions in Iraq and Syria, and attacks on commercial ships. This underlines that there is a risk of escalation in tensions. Iran must dominate those who act on its behalf.”
