The golden match between Malmö and Elfsborg was delayed for over an hour, when the fire alarm was set off by extensive pyrotechnics.
– An arena is a large workplace and it is difficult to maintain a high level of security around it, says Per Engström, section manager at Noa.
In the past year, several people have been caught with flares in their underpants and later convicted of having smuggled pyrotechnics at Allsvenskan football matches.
“Knowledge is the most important thing”
Engström also says that the permanent damage from pyrotechnics and so-called bangers can be really serious:
– After all, bangers are directly dangerous for you and your hearing, and you get damage that you absolutely will not recover from.
What would be the best measure to reduce these items in the arenas?
– I would say that knowledge is the most important thing. How dangerous these objects are to bystanders. And then the organizer has to keep working on this – it’s a security issue.
