the war continues while the snowstorms return

Fighting continues in Donbass and southern Ukraine, while weather conditions have deteriorated sharply, with the first snowstorm of the winter which, since Sunday, November 26, has hit the south, center and the east of the country. The Russian army continues to push into the region, around Avdiivka, while the Ukrainians try to maintain their presence east of Kherson and the Dnieper.

While the blizzard is blowing across much of Ukraine, covering entire regions with snow, the front line in the south and east of the country is far from frozen yet. Hostilities continue in particular around the town of Avdiivka, on the outskirts of Donetsk.

This weekend, the Institute for the Study of War reported that Russian forces had gained further ground, particularly to the north of the city, near the last motorable road into Avdiivka, but also to the south of the city, in the Promzone, an industrial zone transformed since 2014 into a real fortress.

For the moment, the Ukrainian general staff is content to affirm that military positions are taken and retaken, depending on the fighting, refusing to formalize any major setback. In the Kherson region, it is the Ukrainians who are in charge, and by compiling the available information, we understand that they solidify their presence on the left bank of the Dnieper.

Particularly around the villages of Krinky and Korsunka where, according to a renowned Ukrainian military expert, they would be able to threaten the M14 highway, a major strategic axis for the logistics of the occupying Russian troops. However, in the days to come, the arrival of the white winter could limit the desires of the belligerents.
