Lethal Company is a co-op game that was released on Steam a month ago and has not only gone viral since then, but also shot up the Steam charts.
What kind of game is this? Lethal Company is a cooperative horror game from indie developer Zeekerss, which was released on Steam on October 23, 2023.
With up to four players, you work on different moons to collect scrap and send it to your employer. Because that’s the only way you can get your money and avoid being killed by your boss because you didn’t meet your quotas.
However, many dangers await you on a deserted moon. In addition to death through stupid accidents, really strange monsters also want to take your life.
In Lethal Company, death doesn’t necessarily mean something bad, at least not for the survivors. Because you can easily send a fallen colleague back to the employer for payment.

Lethal Company becomes a viral hit: Lethal Company can currently be seen on quite a few streamers and YouTubers and is becoming a viral hit.
With currently 98% “extremely positive” reviews, the game has not only been incredibly well received by these public players. On Steam itself, Lethal Company is currently shooting up pretty quickly. Over 100,000 players are currently playing in front of the screen at the same time.
Lethal Company has been playable in Early Access for just four weeks and is already in third place among the top sellers on Steam. Only the Steam Deck and Counter Strike 2 can defend their place at the top against the new co-op horror.
A similar phenomenon occurred a few years ago with the popular title “Phasmopohobia.”
Lethal Company meets the current tastes of many players
Lethal Company has probably managed to meet the tastes of many players and thus secured this promotion. As a cooperative horror game with a rather old-fashioned VHS graphic style, it draws on many trends that have been exciting the gaming scene for several years.
In the Steam reviews, players also praise the pretty good voice chat in the game. This is intended to underline the scary aspect of the game: For example, in a dark area, your colleagues’ voices suddenly become quieter and suddenly stop.
Whether the success has caught the indie developers by surprise or not, they promise more content in the future, such as new creatures, maps or items.
Early access is scheduled to run for another six months.
