Janne Andersson is no longer the Swedish national team captain.
Then he reveals a new story about Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
– It shows his interest, curiosity and professionalism, says Janne according to the Football channel.
After over seven years as the national team captain Jan Andersson now left the post. Also Peter Wettergren has thanked for himself as assistant confederation captain. They were both dismissed in connection with Sweden’s last European Championship qualifying match against Estonia.
Janne’s tribute
The last couple of years have been marred by worse results and dissatisfaction among the Swedish people with how the national team has performed. Janne himself has admitted that he is not satisfied with the last two years. But we will never forget the trips during EC 2020, and especially WC 2018 in Russia.

Now a new era begins in the Swedish men’s national team. Maybe with Zlatan Ibrahimovic within the Swedish Football Association? At least that’s what Janne Andersson wants to see.
– I think Swedish football should take advantage of his experience. I think that would be good. Then in any way, I don’t want to get involved. And if he wants to, I have no idea. But that Swedish football should try to get him involved in some way, I hope they do. He knows how it works, says Janne according to Fotbollskanalen.
Zlatan impressed
Janne also highlights once that Zlatan has shown fine leadership and professionalism. When Sweden had played two World Cup qualifying matches and a training match against Estonia, the national team gathering would end.
– Then it could easily have happened that some went home to their clubs. But he didn’t ask at all to go and even though it was absolutely out of the question for him to play that match, he went ahead Lasse Jacobsson (opponent analyst) during the last training session before the match against Estonia. He wanted to know how Estonia plays, he tells the football site.

The now former national team captain was very impressed by Ibrahimovic’s initiative.
– So we were going to play a training match against Estonia and he was the one who was most curious about the opposition. It shows his interest, curiosity and professionalism. There are many such “stories” I could tell, but they are more personal, about how he contributed in different ways, says Janne.
