At least two civilians lost their lives following the attack on their bus and thirteen gendarmes were killed following a double attack.
With our correspondent in Ouagadougou, Yaya Boudani
The first attack targeted a transport bus with several passengers on board, 5 km from the town of Taparko, in the Center-North region. The bus jumped on an improvised explosive device, placed in a pothole on the national road N°3 leading to Dori. Thrown by the explosion, the bus was completely destroyed.
Alerted, a team from the 11th commando infantry regiment and the gendarmes from the Dori squadron made their way to the site of the incident. It was at the level of the locality of Yalgo, on the same road axis where the attack against the bus took place, that the gendarmes fell into an ambush in the afternoon.
In recent weeks, armed groups seem to have decided to exert pressure on the city of Dori, the capital of the Sahel region.
On March 3, the Intermediate Court of Dori ceased all activities for security reasons. A press release from the prosecutor informed the population that they could obtain certain documents, in particular the criminal record, at the Court of Appeal of Ouaga 2000, more than 300 km away for certain inhabitants of the Sahel region.
