The mother’s first words after the family tragedy in Söderhamn

When the youngest family member, a four-year-old girl, died, the police labeled the incident a homicide. At the same time, the rest of the family was cared for in the intensive care unit at Hudiksvall hospital.

Despite hundreds of tests, specialist doctors and cooperation between authorities, it is still unclear what is behind the death.

However, the mother is sure that her daughter would have survived if the paramedics had helped them in time.

The mother: “Can’t sleep”

– Why didn’t they take our daughter with them?

Just over a month later, everyone has been allowed to leave the hospital and now lives at the home of family friend Almaz, who was there when the girl died.

– There are a lot of thoughts, of course, and I can’t sleep. We miss our daughter. It hurts, says the mother.

Furthermore, she says that she was only conscious for short moments during the hospital stay.

– When I woke up after 14 days, I asked Almaz where my children were – I knew nothing. She said they were sleeping. It was only the following morning that a doctor told them what had happened.

“Think she had survived”

When Göteborgs-Posten talks to the family, the two-year-old son is watching children’s programs on the sofa. For a couple of weeks he hovered – just like the rest of the family – between life and death.

– But now he feels better. He is healthy, completely healthy, says the father.

At the same time, the mother looks back to that Saturday morning in October.

– We had both vomited a lot, but the difference was that I’m an adult – she was only four years old, and couldn’t take it, she says the newspaper.

The health care staff examined the girl and made the assessment that it was a stomach bug.

– If you call the ambulance, and they come to your home, why don’t they help you? I think she would have lived if they had taken her in then.

The family has not notified the ambulance staff, but says that it may become relevant in the future.
