Norfolk OPP have charged two people with aggravated assault following a Nov. 17 incident at a Norfolk Street South address in Simcoe.

Police say three people became involved in a heated verbal argument in a public space at about 5 pm The argument escalated and became physical with one person being assaulted.
The victim was taken to hospital and treated for significant but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
A 36-year-old Norfolk County man has been charged with aggravated assault. A 44-year-old Norfolk County woman has been charged with aggravated assault and failure to comply with a probation order.
Both accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Domestic violence investigations result in charges
Norfolk OPP have charged two people following two separate intimate partner violence investigations.
Officers were sent to a Norfolk County address at about 2:34 pm on Nov. 15 to investigate a disturbance. No injuries were reported to police.
A 77-year-old Norfolk County man has been charged with five counts of assault, assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats and unauthorized possession of a firearm. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
At about 10:37 am on Nov. 16 officers were dispatched to another Norfolk County address to investigate an incident.
No injuries were reported and one person was taken into custody, police said.

Police have charged a 48-year-old Norfolk man with assault and mischief under $5,000. The man is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe at a later date.

Homeowner scares off intruder
A would-be thief was scared off by a homeowner during a Nov. 16 break and enter to a Talbot Street North residence in Simcoe, Norfolk OPP say.

Officers were sent to the residence at about 5:17 pm and upon arrival learned that the home had been entered. The suspect fled in an unknown direction after being confronted by the homeowner, police said.
Nothing was stolen from the home, police said.
Norfolk OPP are searching for a white male, about 5’10” – 5’11” tall with dark hair and a bald spot on the top of his head. He was wearing a green sweater or jacket and light-colored pants at the time of the break-in, police said.

Impaired driving charge
A 26-year-old Norfolk County woman has been charged with a drinking and driving offense after being stopped by police just after 10 p.m. Nov. 15.
Police stopped the vehicle on McDowell Road East in Charlotteville and took the driver into custody without incident.
The accused has been charged with driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood and speeding. The legal limit for drivers in Ontario is 80 milligrams of alcohol for every 100 milliliters of blood.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, December 12.
Motorist charged
Norfolk OPP have charged a 31-year-old Norfolk County resident after investigating a report of an impaired driver.

Police received a 911 call on Nov. 19 and at 4:26 pm sent officers to an Argyle Street address in Delhi to investigate. Officers located the vehicle but discovered the driver had fled the vicinity, police said.
However, the driver was subsequently found at a nearby address and officers took him into custody without incident. During the arrest, officers discovered some methamphetamine.
The accused has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and failure to comply with a release order. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
