Extensive snowfall expected – yellow warnings issued

During Wednesday, a snowfall moves in over large parts of Sweden. SMHI has issued a yellow warning for the whole of Norrland, but it will also snow in Svealand. In Uppland and western Svealand, a yellow warning is issued from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday night due to snowfall which, in combination with fresh wind, can cause problems in traffic.

– Expect a difficult traffic situation in many places. It will be poor visibility and slippery, says SVT’s meteorologist Marcus Sjöstedt.

Snow and strong, or very strong, winds are expected in the Lapland mountains.

– You should avoid staying in the mountains then, says Marcus Sjöstedt.

The snowfall moves on during Thursday and is then replaced by rain and milder weather, which can lead to the risk of slipping.

– By the weekend, temperatures are expected to drop again, says Marcus Sjöstedt.
