Popular action RPG on Steam competes with Diablo 4, shows roadmap, announces 2 new classes

Last Epoch has become a popular Diablo competitor on Steam. Now the action RPG announced two new classes.

What game is it about?

  • Last Epoch is an action RPG on Steam that features a time travel mechanic that allows you to travel through different eras as the story progresses.
  • The action RPG developed by the American development studio Eleventh Hour Games is played in iso perspective and has been playable in early access since April 2019.
  • In Last Epoch you can choose from 5 basic classes, each of which is divided into three subclasses, the so-called masteries. There is also a distinct skill tree with a variety of different skills.
  • Last Epoch has also had multiplayer since May 2023, with which the game was able to temporarily increase its number of players.
  • The full 1.0 release of Last Epoch is currently scheduled for February 21, 2024. In an update post on Steam, the developers gave an insight into the plans for the coming months and revealed what you can expect before the full release.

What does the roadmap show? In the roadmap, the developers revealed when you can expect new information about some of the new features that will be added to the game with the 1.0 release of Last Epoch. These include the so-called item factions, two new classes and changes to the endgame systems.

You can expect new information on these dates:

  • January 11, 2024: Published a blog post about item factions
  • Provides more detailed information about The Merchant’s Guild, The Bazaar, Circle of Fortune and Prophecies factions
  • January 25, 2024: Preview of Warlock, a new class
  • The Warlock will be the third and last subclass (mastery) of the base class “Acolyte”
  • February 8, 2024: Preview of the Falconer, a new class
  • The Falconer will be the third and last subclass (Masterie) of the base class “Rogue”.
  • What else was announced? Eleventh Hour Game has not only named a few dates on which you can expect new information about the two upcoming subclasses and the item factions. The blog post on Steam also mentioned an update to the shaman subclass. Accordingly, although no complete rework of the shaman is planned, the goal is to bring him on a par with the other masteries.

Even if Eleventh Hour Game has not yet revealed any details, a revision of the “Tempest Strike” skill and changes to the passive tree are planned. The shaman will also receive a new skill that has not yet been revealed.

On top of that, there will be changes to the endgame of Last Epoch, more specifically to the echo modifiers and the corruption system. Accordingly, the team wants to ensure that an opponent’s strength depends less on the echo modifiers and more on their natural strength and corruption.

As Echo modifiers become weaker and last less long, Corruption scaling is increased, making Corruption the primary method of scaling difficulty in the endgame of Last Epoch.

The Warlock and Falconer are the last two subclasses to receive Last Epoch before the 1.0 release. It wasn’t until September 2023 that the magician’s third mastery class, the rune master, came into play:
