Swedish star Ludvig Åberg continues to take the golf world by storm. Late on Sunday evening, he secured his first title on the PGA Tour.
The 24-year-old won the RSM Classic after a dramatic showdown with Canadian Mackenzie Hughes.
Åberg settled the competition by birdieing the last two holes.
– This is something I could only dream of, he says in the victory interview.
Ready for his first major
Åberg was ranked as the world’s best amateur when he turned pro this summer. Since then he has racked up top finishes, wins on the European Tour and been part of the victorious European Ryder Cup team.
– It has been six months I will never forget, says Åberg.
The win comes with a prize check worth 1.5 million dollars, equivalent to approximately 15 million kroner. It also means that he enters the 50 highest-ranked players in the world – and is thus ready for his first major start in his career:
The Masters, at Augusta National in April 2024.
