An agreement on a ceasefire, which would mean the release of hostages from terrorist-branded Hamas in Gaza is close, according to The Washington Post. However, it is rejected by the US and Israel.
This is what the key players have said about the rewritten agreement.
The Washington Post : Israel and terrorist-labeled Hamas are close to an agreement on a deal, which the United States is helping to negotiate. The agreement would free tens of women and children held hostage by Hamas in Gaza, in exchange for a five-day pause in the war, the newspaper writes, citing sources in the negotiations.
Qatar: “The challenges that remain in the negotiations are very small compared to the bigger challenges, they are more logistical, more practical,” Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abd al-Rahman Al Thani said on Sunday. The agreement must have been negotiated during several weeks of talks in Doha, Qatar.
United States: “We have not reached an agreement yet, but we continue to work hard to do so,” wrote Adrienne Watson, spokeswoman for the US National Security Council, in a commentary on X overnight Sunday.
Israel: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said there are highly inaccurate reports that a deal involving the hostages is close. “At the moment there is no agreement,” he said at a briefing on Saturday evening.
