According to reports in the national media, authorities have taken various measures to combat increasing air pollution in Lahore, Punjab.
NECESSARY PREPARATIONS HAVE STARTED
Authorities announced that, within the scope of the measures, necessary preparations have begun to create artificial rain in Lahore on 28 and 29 November.
Meanwhile, it was decided that all schools throughout Lahore would be closed on Saturdays, and bazaars and markets would open after 15.00.
In Punjab, a 4-day holiday was declared on November 8 in areas with high levels of air pollution.
AIR QUALITY “DANGEROUS”
According to the data shared by the Swiss technology company IQAir, which measures air quality values, the air quality value was recorded as 470 in Multan in the Punjab province and 214 in Lahore. These values fall into the “dangerous” and “very unhealthy” categories, respectively.
The guide prepared by the World Health Organization (WHO) for air quality in cities states that PM 2.5 levels (fine particulate matter with a diameter of less than 2.5 micrometers) should be below 10 micrograms per cubic meter. (AA)
