In connection with the NHL matches, Nylander also acknowledges a novelty of his own, a beautiful initiative that he himself has been driving in together with the NHL’s players’ union, the NHLPA.
– We donate hockey equipment to children who need it. It is for children who cannot afford to start playing hockey. I am happy that we can do this in Sweden, says the Swede at a press conference on Friday.
Nice gesture by Williams
The organization Fritidsbanken explains more in a press release. Where NHL players in North America – led by Nylander – come together and donate 40 complete hockey kits to children who want to start playing hockey, but cannot afford it.
– I am grateful for the opportunity to play in front of all the Swedish ice hockey fans, friends and family in Stockholm, as well as to be able to give back to children across the country through this NHLPA Goals & Dreams equipment donation, William Nylander said in a statement.
– NHLPA Goals & Dreams has had a positive impact on grassroots hockey for 24 years and I am very proud to help Fritidsbanken here in Sweden together with my fellow players.

The organization collects sports and outdoor equipment and then lends it free of charge to children in need. The hockey equipment from the NHL will now be used for schools in the Stockholm area and the gifts of skates, helmets, sticks and protection are valued at almost 240,000 Swedish kronor.
– We are very proud and grateful to receive this hockey equipment from NHLPA Goals & Dreams. We will lend it to children and young people in various places across the country, with Stockholm being the first. The students will have the opportunity to try ice hockey and who knows, one of them might become a future NHL star, says David Mathiassondirector of operations at Fritidsbanken Sweden.
