For many years, Steven Spielberg and his production company Amblin have produced a biopic about the legendary composer, conductor and pianist Leonard Bernstein developed. In the end he didn’t take over the directing. Instead, he devoted himself to his other musical passion project, West Side Story.
Even Martin Scorsese, who was temporarily linked to the film as a director, ultimately decided on something else: The Irishman. That’s how it ended up Bernstein biopic in the hands of Bradley Cooper. Now it is titled Maestro and will be released in cinemas in a few weeks and on Netflix shortly afterwards.
