Patch 10.2 for World of Warcraft brings the last raid and slowly the end of Dragonflight. Anyone who has killed the final boss of the raid will see a new cinematic. However, this is now causing discussions in the community.
Spoiler warning: If you haven’t defeated the final boss in the latest raid or seen the cinematic yet, you can find out here what happens next with the most important characters from Dragonflight.
What kind of cinematic is this?
This is the criticism: The staging of the cinematic apparently annoys the community. It seems a bit like a “Saturday morning cartoon for children” that must promise a particularly great moral.
One scene in particular causes trouble: when Kalecgos talks about family. This moment has spawned a few memes in which players associate the cinematic with a well-known scene from Fast & Furious with Vin Diesel, for whom family is also everything.
One user even shopped Vin Diesel’s face onto Kalec’s body, which looks… amazingly fitting (via Reddit). There are other comparisons on Reddit, for example with My Little Pony and its motto: friendship (or here: family) is magic.
Other users believe that such a development has been apparent for a long time. They criticize Dragonflight’s story progression in general, saying that after a strong start, a lot was lost until the end.
“No wonder Blizzard treats you like children”
In the comments, however, many fans see things in a much more differentiated way than the creators of the threads. The fact that the dragons talk about family is exactly in keeping with the story and the characters themselves:
The story of the blue dragons was particularly praised when it was published. The fact that this has now been forgotten only shows fans that the community simply doesn’t know what it actually wants.
Users say: If you forget what happened before after a patch, you shouldn’t be surprised if Blizzard treats players like children. Others don’t envy the writers’ work: “Their job is damn hard with this audience.”
A community that skips all quest texts and dialogues cannot be satisfied with any story. Nevertheless, some users admit that at least the display could have been better.
If you’re one of those who skipped quest text… here you’ll find the most important points of the lore:
