The reviews for the sixth and final season of the Netflix series have been published in England, and many critics are not gracious in their judgments.
The series’ final season follows the romance between Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki) and Dodi Fayed (Khalid Abdalla) in the days and weeks before their deaths in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel. Several writers criticize, among other things, that Princess Diana appears as a ghost in the new season.
“Cynical”
“The show’s dialogue, which in its ominous tone has often flirted with overacting, now feels tailored for a seriously cynical purpose,” writes Nick Hilton in The Independent.
“The first four episodes are intrusive and clumsy,” says Anitha Singh in The Telegraph.
“Concerning”
The harshest is Lucy Mangan in The Guardian, who writes that it is “so bad that it is practically an out-of-body experience”.
The British Times, on the other hand, is positive, with Carol Midgley giving four out of five stars, praising Elizabeth Debicki’s performance as Princess Diana and calling the final season “touching”.
