The sci-fi film Sunshine was released in 2007. The cast included today’s Hollywood greats such as Chris Evans and Cillian Murphy – but there was no big hit and hardly anyone saw the film in the cinema. Sunshine was directed by Danny Boyle (Babylon, Slumdog Millionaire). Among the cast members you will find names that are much better known today than they were back then, such as Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer) and Chris Evans (Captain America).
The sci-fi film debuted on the big screen on April 19, 2007, but failed at the box office:

In a 2011 interview with Moviefone, Chris Evans talked about Sunshine (via joblo.com). He said he “loved” the film. However, hardly anyone would have seen the blockbuster in the cinema:
About ten people saw him. Nobody sees all my good films. Everyone goes and sees ‘Fantastic Four’, but no one sees ‘Sunshine’.

Screenwriter Alex Garland also expressed frustration at the film’s failure in cinemas: “[…] Look at the box office returns of ‘Sunshine’, it was just a disaster at the box office and didn’t make any money at all. We made this movie, we put our heart and soul into it, it got pretty good reviews, and no one really cared […].” (via joblo.com)
