The Competition Authority has just made an official announcement and stated that an investigation has been opened against Amazon and two other companies.
The brief statement on the subject was as follows: “The preliminary investigation carried out against D-Market Elektronik Hizmetleri ve Ticaret AŞ in order to determine whether the Law on the Protection of Competition No. 4054 has been violated has been decided by the Competition Board. The Competition Board, which discussed the information, documents and findings obtained in the preliminary investigation at its meeting dated 19.10.2023, found the findings serious and sufficient; It has decided, with number 23-49/940-M, to open an investigation against D-Market Elektronik Hizmetleri ve Ticaret AŞ, DSM Grup Danışmanlık İletişim ve Tatil Ticaret AŞ and Amazon Turkey Retail Services Limited Company, which implement an automatic pricing mechanism.
Investigation decisions taken by the Competition Board are made available to the public following the notification of the decision to the undertakings or associations of undertakings against which an investigation has been initiated. “These statements made within the scope of informing the public about the Competition Board’s decisions cannot be interpreted as the undertakings or associations of undertakings against which an investigation has been initiated, violating Law No. 4054, or that they are or will face criminal sanctions within the scope of the Law.”
