Sarnia-Lambton’s chamber of commerce has named it’s new CEO.
Carrie McEachran, currently executive director at Sarnia-Lambton Rebound, starts May 6, replacing former chamber CEO Allan Calvert, who recently retired.
“I’m just really excited about the opportunity and looking forward to working with the business community,” said McEachran, who’s headed Rebound for six years, has 20 years management experience with Community Living Sarnia-Lambton and Pathways Health Center for Children, and is a small business owner.
Also chair of the Sarnia Lambton Social Services Network, the 47-year-old married mother of five and 25-year Sarnia-Lambton resident said she’s been involved as a volunteer with the chamber for several years.
“I’ve always just really loved what they do,” she said about why she decided to take on job of CEO.
“Love what they do for the community and for the businesses.”
The former Blue Coast Primary Care Recruitment and Retention and North Lambton Community Health Center board member, who has a master’s degree in leadership from Royal Roads University and a non-profit management certificate from Western University, has a strong record of community leadership and advocacy, chamber board chair Kathleen Mundy said in a news release.
“The board believes that Carrie’s extensive leadership experience and her passion for community development and growth makes her the ideal CEO to lead the chamber into the exciting next chapter of post-pandemic recovery and rebuilding,” she said.
That recovery will be the focus, McEachran said.
“Really just now that we’re able to get back in person and get committees formed again and get volunteers back,” she said.
“And really just get out there and work with the business community on rebuilding and celebrating that we’re all still here two years later.”
Rebound will search for a new executive director to replace her when she departs in May, McEachran said.
“It’s time for a change I think,” she said.
“Rebound is in good shape and ready for someone new.”
