Norway places a huge order for new air defenses

The government is spending SEK 12.5 billion on this, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre tells us NRK.

— Altogether, this is the largest single investment in air defense in 30 years. With this investment, the government is helping to strengthen our national preparedness and we are replacing air defenses that have been donated to Ukraine as quickly as possible, says Gahr Støre.

The plan is to purchase three different variants of anti-aircraft robots with different ranges, as well as robots for Norwegian anti-aircraft vehicles. It appears from the government’s own press release that it is a system of the Nasams model, which is manufactured by the Norwegian defense giant Kongsberg in collaboration with the American Raytheon.

The order is important to make in this situation as international demand for air defense is very high right now, according to Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram.
