After the United Kingdom, the United States and the EU, the UN is alarmed by “large-scale” violence in Sudan, after the attack by General Hemedti’s Rapid Support Forces on the town of Ardamata, a few kilometers from El-Geneina, in Darfur. Credible testimonies indicate more than 1,000 deaths in two days, said the head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell. A concern shared by the spokesperson for the UN Secretary General, who declared Tuesday evening that this demonstrated “an escalation of inter-ethnic and inter-community conflicts in Sudan”.
