The Green Party opens to support a motion of no confidence against Climate and Environment Minister Romina Pourmokhtari (L).
According to MP, the government’s policy increases emissions by 50 percent next year.
The government has decided on reduced reduction obligations for petrol and diesel from 2024. The budget also includes proposals for reduced tax on petrol and diesel.
– By shockingly increasing emissions, the government is in practice abandoning the transport target for 2030, says spokeswoman Märta Stenevi at a press conference.
Already next year, emissions in the transport sector will increase by 50 percent according to MP.
The Green Party is now opening up to support the Center Party’s motion of no confidence against Romina Pourmokhtari – unless the government’s climate action plan, to be presented in November, shows emission reductions.
– We will contact the other parties to gather before the climate action plan is presented, says Stenevi.
She admits that a vote of no confidence is unlikely to go through, as the government and SD have a majority in the Riksdag, but believes that it is an important mark.
The MP also proposes a new target for reducing car dependence in big cities. Language candidate Daniel Helldén emphasizes that this type of goal already exists at municipal level in both Stockholm and Gothenburg.
