The question of who would take over from 2022 Christmas host Babben Larsson has occupied betting firms and evening papers in recent weeks. Among those mentioned in the speculation are Kristian Luuk, Niklas Strömstedt and Carina Bergfeldt.
Christmas hosts have a long tradition in SVT. First up was Bengt Feldreich, who kept the television viewers company during a series of Christmas evenings between 1959 and 1971. Then the real nestor of TV Christmas, Arne Weise, took over. He was, apart from a few Christmas evenings, Christmas host between 1972 and 2002.
Last year’s Christmas host Babben Larsson had the stated ambition to help TV viewers de-stress during Christmas Eve. And she herself also refused to be carried away by the frenzy before the Christmas hosting.
