A spokesman for the Israeli military (IDF) calls the shelling the most serious so far in which civilians have been harmed.
Israel responded with counter-attacks on communities in southern Lebanon. In a statement, the Israeli military stated that seven soldiers were slightly injured when they were fired upon in the area around Manara in the border areas with Lebanon.

Hezbollah confirms it has attacked targets in northern Israel and says the attacks on power line work, according to Israel, were to prevent wiretapping equipment from being set up nearby, equipment to monitor southern Lebanon.
