The new Senegalese opposition coalition is called the Front for Inclusivity and Transparency of Elections (Fite). It also means “courage” in Wolof. Its 35 members are all candidates for the presidential election, but want to unite around the same fight. Cheikh Tidiane Dieye, member of Fite: “ Let us call on the political forces resolutely determined to restore Senegalese democracy abused by the Macky Sall regime and to unite our efforts to ensure the participation of all candidates without any illegal exclusion in order to protect transparency, sincerity and regularity of the presidential election of February 25, 2024. »
Actions
The case of Ousmane Sonko, still in prison and whose representative was unable to collect the sponsorship forms from the General Directorate of Elections, is on everyone’s minds. Several actions are already planned, including visits to the families of victims of illegal immigration, but also, as Ayib Daffé, member of Fite, tells us, “ the establishment of the Fite expert center for technical monitoring of the electoral process. There is also the joining of opposition political forces in all departments and at the level of the diaspora. »
“ Provocation »
Aminata Touré, former Prime Minister, is also one of the Fite members. She denounces “ provocations from President Macky Sall » for example at the level of the Autonomous National Electoral Commission (Cena): “ We are already going to attack the decree which installs the new Cena where you find leaders of Macky Sall’s political party “. The list of Fite members remains open to other candidates who would like to join the movement, from whatever party they come from.
