Marshmallows over a campfire, a fire pit or wood stove in the garden: from 2025 this will be a thing of the past in the municipality of Utrecht. From then on, there is a ban on burning wood outdoors. Scouting associations are anything but happy about it. “Making a fire is inextricably linked to scouting. And that can be done without causing inconvenience,” according to the scouting association Rhenova in Vleuten.
