Legendary fantasy anime becomes a Netflix series: What is Yu Hakusho?
What is Yu Yu Hakusho anyway? After One Piece, Netflix is daring to make the next big live-action manga adaptation, but this time it boasts an entirely Japanese cast. The model is the popular manga by Yoshihiro Togashi (Hunter x Hunter), which was implemented in the early 1990s as a 112-part anime series Yû Yû Hakusho.
At the center of the story is the teenage rebel Yusuke Urameshi (Takumi Kitamura), who saves a child from a speeding car and dies in the process. Since no one in the spirit world expected his heroic deed, there is no place for him in either heaven or hell. Instead, he is given a unique opportunity by Ghost Prince Koenma, a talking baby with a pacifier.
