Six years ago, Dimitri Fricano was sentenced to 30 years in prison for murder. This after he murdered his girlfriend on a beach in Sardinia with 57 stab wounds.
He himself has stated that the murder took place after his girlfriend scolded him for crumbling too much, writes Italian La Repubblica.

Now he has been allowed to leave prison. The reason is that he has suffered from obesity. The man’s lawyers tell the newspaper that a court in Turin has ruled that Dimitri Fricano must receive treatment.
According to court documents, the man has gained weight since being placed in prison. He has gone from weighing 120 kilos to 200 kilos, which means he now has difficulty walking.
The news agency Ansa writes that his situation in prison means that he cannot go on a diet. The man risks his life because of the risk of cardiovascular disease, according to the court’s decision.
Dimitri Fricano will now receive care at his home in Biella. He will serve the rest of his sentence there, according to the Italian media.
