Elias Pettersson has started the NHL season fantastically.
Last night the Swede scored a real goal – and now Pettersson is being celebrated.
“He is too good,” writes a supporter on social media.
The expectations of Elias Pettersson were high for the season, after he scored 102 points in 80 games last year. But the 24-year-old has still managed to exceed all expectations with his incredible start to the season.
Vancouver won
On the night of Friday Swedish time, Pettersson’s Vancouver Canucks faced the Ottawa Senators on the road. The Canucks won the game 5–2, and have now made history. This year the club has its best season opening ever with ten wins in 13 games. It was Vancouver’s fifth straight win.

Elias Pettersson accounted for a goal and two assists against Ottawa. He has now scored in seven straight games, and has totaled 24 points (seven goals and 17 assists) in the opening 13 games this season. The former Växjö player now tops the scoring league in the NHL in his own majesty, but only one stick ahead of Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov.
Pettersson’s dream goal
It was Pettersson who determined the final score in the night’s game, when he struck almost 14 minutes into the third period. And it wasn’t a bad goal. EP40 was produced by Quinn Hughes and shot from outside. A hard direct shot straight into the roof of the net during the power play.

The goal and Pettersson are now being praised on social media.
“My God,” writes one user.
“Hard to do better than that!”, writes another.
“That’s why Pettersson should play more during the power play”, says one supporter.
“You love to see it,” says another.
The next game for Vancouver is away against the Toronto Maple Leafs on the night of Sunday Swedish time.
