Suffering from a lack of game feel Emil Ruusuvuori won

Gray clouds gathered over the Finnish Davis Cup team when the number one player Emil Ruusuvuori had to leave the Helsinki tournament in the middle of the quarterfinals.

Emil Rose Mountain had to give up his quarterfinal match of the Helsinki ATP challenger tournament on Friday evening due to a shoulder injury.

Indian Sumit Nagal advanced to the semifinals of the tournament after winning the opening set 6–3 and leading the second set 3–1 at the handover stage.

– The shoulder would hurt during the afternoon warm-up. However, at that time it didn’t feel like I couldn’t play in the evening. In the game, I couldn’t hit the pass or the palm properly. When you can’t perform normally, you start to be careful and the risk of injury increases.

Ruusuvuori said that he has not suffered from shoulder problems for a few years.

– I felt that it is not reasonable to take risks and go to extremes in this situation, continued Ruusuvuori.

The final tournament of the eight best countries of the tennis Davis Cup will be played in Malaga in a week and a half from 21 to 26 November.

Finland is participating in the final for the first time and will face the world number one and reigning Davis Cup champion Canada in the quarterfinals.

As Finland’s number one player, Ruusuvuori has a big role in the team.

When asked about preparing for and participating in the Davis Cup final tournament, the Finnish player answered concisely.

– Everything will be done so that the Davis Cup is not in danger, Ruusuvuori emphasized.
