Pelvic fracture refers to the breakage of a bone in the pelvis, namely the two iliac bones and the sacrum. When it occurs in a sitting position, the fracture more generally concerns the coccyx.
It leads a state of shock, severe pain and makes walking impossible. A fracture of the basin involves an emergency consultation. A fracture of the pelvis generally follows a very violent shock due to a fall from height or a sports or traffic accident.
