In the last round of the season, Tess Olofsson writes history – as the first female referee in the Men’s All-Svenskan.
“I can’t describe the joy I feel in words,” she says.
Tess Olofsson will referee Sirius–IFK Norrköping on Sunday. The 35-year-old has a solid track record. She refereed the women’s EC last year and the WC this year.
And she became the first female referee to referee a Swedish elite match on the men’s side, in the 2020 super league.
The article continues below.
This year, she has refereed twelve matches in the second highest league. She has also been the fourth referee in the Allsvenskan.
“I cannot describe in words the joy I feel at reaching the top on the men’s side in Sweden. I was surprised that I got the chance in the Allsvenskan this fall,” says Olofsson to Svensk Fotboll.

Olofsson says that she has improved her physique a lot in recent years, above all her sprinting ability but also endurance.
“I’ve never felt this strong before. After my hamstring injury, I had to work really hard with strength and fitness to get back and I had the chance to jack up to become even stronger,” she says.
“I have worked incredibly hard to get here. But I want to continue to develop and take further steps”.
