Severi Lahtinen’s agent, Juha Hautamaa, confirms that Liptovsky Mikulas, fifth in the Slovak league, has been interested in the player’s services. The offer from Germany was not interesting.
Ice hockey player Severi Lahtinen, 24, received a two-year unconditional prison sentence for rape in the Päijät-Häme district court last month. Although the verdict has been appealed to the Court of Appeal and it is not legally binding, Lahtinen’s path in the SM league is up for now. After the verdict, JYP terminated the player contract of the Pelicans breeder.
Lahtinen’s agent, representing Newport Sports Management INC Juha Hautamaa has recently been looking for a place for the winger abroad. According to Urheilu’s information, the Slovakian league, and Liptovsky Mikulas, which is in 5th place in particular, has emerged as a particularly strong alternative. Club owner Robo Luptak did not confirm the matter on Thursday.
– The Slovak league is a good option, and I can confirm that the club in question has been interested in the player. No contract has been made, and other directions are also open. I can’t say about the schedule, Juha Hautamaa commented.
Hautamaa said that Lahtinen had already received one concrete offer from Germany as well.
– However, the series level was so low that it was in no way relevant for such a high-level player, says Hautamaa.
Hautamaa also states that he has investigated the effect of Lahtinen’s sentence on the player’s chances of continuing his career this season.
– As an agent, of course, the legal protection of the player is very important to me, and I have resolved the matter with the attitude that if it is possible for him to play abroad this season, he will play abroad. According to my thorough investigations, the obstacle will not be the Finnish association, the international association, or the home association of the new team. So it’s about how the hiring club’s and the player’s thoughts coincide.
