Actors’ strike in Hollywood over – agreement reached

For nearly four months, the American actors’ union of the union SAG-AFTRA has been on strike against poor working conditions.

On Wednesday, the union said in a statement that it approved a preliminary agreement with the major film and television companies, which stops the actors’ strike in Hollywood in the United States, reports Reuters.

The strike is thus officially called off one minute after midnight on Thursday, local time.

The agreement also needs to be approved by the union’s national board, which will be considered on Friday. Further information is expected to come after that.

Long list of bans

The actors who are members of SAG-AFTRA have not been allowed to act, sing, do stunts or voice acting since the strike was called. Nor have they been allowed to participate in any interviews or go to film festivals and premieres.

The strike has led to delays for several planned blockbusters, and along with the screenwriters’ strike that was going on around the same time, has paralyzed large parts of the film and television industry throughout the summer and fall.
