Kadyrov’s 15-year-old son becomes head of security

Ramzan Kadyrov has been the leader of the Russian sub-republic of Chechnya since 2007. He is one of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s staunchest allies and is sometimes called “Putin’s attack dog”.

Kadyrov has been accused by international human rights organizations for years of being behind gross abuses against his population, including kidnappings, torture, extrajudicial executions and persecution of homosexuals.

The daughter is deputy prime minister

It is not the first time that Kadyrov has highlighted family members in leading positions.

– He appointed his daughter Aisja as culture minister first, and then recently as deputy prime minister with responsibility for social issues, says SVT’s foreign affairs reporter, Carl Fridh Kleberg.

Political signal

Now 15-year-old Adam also gets a high position in his father’s management. According to information on Telegram from Chechen security officials, Adam will become the head of his father’s bodyguard. This is reported by the news agency Ansa, among others.

– This should not be understood as Ramzan Kadyrov giving his son any main operational responsibility for his security. But instead as a political signal that Kadyrov highlights others from the family. says Fridh Kleberg.
