New tightening in Australia central bank raises rates to 435

(Finance) – The central bank of Australia raised the main reference rates by 25 basis points, to 4.35%.

This is the 13th monetary tightening by the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) since it began raising rates in May 2022, with the aim of counteracting the jump in inflation.

The move was widely expected by analysts.

The RBA said it was determined to bring inflation growth back to its target of between 2% and 3%.
