This is the initial situation that sets off a completely new space race, which is shown over decades through the exciting personal fates of astronauts (Joel Kinnaman) to NASA ground personnel (Wrenn Schmidt).
For All Mankind takes some time to gain momentum at the beginning, but then increases its science fiction content from season to season embeds it politically in an absolutely credible alternative sci-fi historiography one that convincingly portrays lunar colonies and Mars missions.
