Need to restyle your hair or touch up your makeup

Need to restyle your hair or touch up your makeup? Instead of using the front camera of your smartphone, adopt this app instead. Free, it offers better rendering and has very practical functions.

Today, the smartphone replaces many everyday objects that we had to carry everywhere with us, in our pockets or our bags – camera, audio player, game console, flashlight, address book, etc. This is also the case for pocket mirrors, very practical for quickly fixing your hair, touching up your makeup or checking that there is nothing on your face. Of course, it is always possible to use the screen or the front camera of the smartphone as a backup mirror, but there is much more practical: mirror applications, which are dedicated to precisely this use. There are many available in app stores. Some are free and financed by – sometimes invasive – advertising, while others require a paid subscription. To help you choose, we recommend relying on the number of downloads and user reviews – don’t take obscure, unknown apps, they are more likely to contain malware. One of our favorites is Mirror, published by Studio 360 Apps, a free and easy-to-use app, much more practical than an ordinary front camera!

A mirror to admire yourself in all circumstances

Unlike other free applications, Mirror has the advantage of not having invasive advertising, but only a small banner which is displayed at the top of the screen – it is possible to pay for it to disappear. Very easy to use, the app has several practical and very nice functions. First of all, the image of your face that is displayed is much larger than what your smartphone camera shows you by default – the goal is to see your face, not to take an overall photo ! You can even zoom in even further to focus on a particular detail of your face. A piece of salad leaf between your teeth? An unwanted pimple on your nose? Nothing will escape you!

The application automatically corrects the exposure to give you a brighter – or darker – image, as if your “mirror” were surrounded by spots of light, allowing you to admire yourself even in the dark. You can also choose the image size (between 1280 x 720 and 320 x 240 pixels) and adjust the contrast and sharpness. Another interesting feature: Mirror allows you to “freeze” your reflection so you can examine it in detail, while the 360° option records a brief video so you can observe yourself from every angle. You can also rotate the image horizontally to have a reflection of you as close to reality as possible. Finally, you can save and share your best selfies and video selfies. In short, much better than just using your phone’s selfie camera!
