The Fis Games can be described as a “mini Olympics” where the sports under the umbrella of the International Skiing and Snowboarding Federation (FIS) – including cross-country skiing and alpine skiing – get a new championship to be decided when there are no Olympics or World Championships. The idea was that the Fis Games would premiere in 2024. But that didn’t happen.
Instead, the premiere edition will be decided in 2028. And now two candidates have applied for the championship: Swiss St. Moritz/Engadine and Norwegian Lillehammer/Hafjell.
“We are very happy about the great interest in organizing the first championship,” says Fi’s general secretary Michel Vion in a press release.
At Fi’s congress in June next year, it will be decided which candidate will receive the championship.
