Frankie, 2, is bitten to death on the bus – now the dog’s owner will be jailed

It was Friday afternoon and Saga Frank, 19, met a friend at the train in Gävle. She had the family’s two-year-old chihuahua Frankie with her. After that, they would take the bus home and halfway there, Saga’s friend notices that a man with a large dog has gotten on.

– I just had time to bend down to pick up Frankie, but the other dog had time to grab him, Saga told TV4 Nyheterna, days after the tragedy.

The other dog refused to let go and finally bit the carotid artery. Frankie’s life could not be saved and Saga was left completely shocked by the incident.

– We are all very sad. He was my best friend and means a lot to me and the family. We will never get Frankie back.

Fleeed – regretted

When she tried to talk to the other dog owner, he allegedly behaved aggressively towards Saga. When the police arrived, he had managed to flee the scene.

Two weeks later, the man reported himself, deeply remorseful, to the police, Arbetarbladet reports.

The man is in his 40s and is now sentenced to two months in prison for offenses against supervision of dogs and cats. He must also pay SEK 19,000 in damages to Saga, the newspaper writes.

The County Administrative Board has also investigated the incident and decided that the man’s dog should be taken into care.
