The assistant professor who disappeared in the United States last week Heikki Rantakari the body has been identified. The Finnish Rantakari was found dead on Monday in the Genesee River in Rochester, New York, they say US media.
The 44-year-old Rantakari taught economics and management at the University of Rochester and was a visiting assistant professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Police are still investigating the cause of death. No crime is suspected in the case. In Finland, Rantakari’s death was reported first Evening newspaper. The newspaper writes that based on the video evidence examined by the police, it was assumed that Rantakari fell from the pedestrian bridge into the water early on Saturday, October 21.
Rantakari received his doctorate at MIT in 2007. He had also studied at the London School of Economics.
Rantakarilta has appeared several scientific publications.
The police published a missing persons report in Rantakarista X on October 24.
