Two charged after Sarnia store robberies: police

Two Sarnia men face charges in separate Monday convenience store robberies Monday, police say.

In the first incident, a man showed a knife on his belt and threatened a clerk who told him he had to pay for items as he tried to leave a store in the 400 block of Exmouth Street about 5 am, police said.

The suspect fled but was arrested by officers a few blocks away minutes later, police said.

A Sarnia man, 35, is charged with robbery, uttering death threats, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon and breach of probation, police said.

In the second incident, a man with a knife pushed a clerk out of the way and took items from behind the counter before fleeing a store in the 100 block of Indian Road South about 9 p.m., police said. A suspect was identified and arrested early Tuesday.

A Sarnia man, 40, is charged with robbery, assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possessing property obtained by crime and possessing a prohibited device.
