In Elden Ring, magic is considered one of the most powerful tools players can use to wreak havoc on the world of Inbetween. This is why many tainted people refer to magic as the true easy mode, as any boss can be blown away with ease. We’ll show you how you can build the best easy mode for yourself.
In every FromSoftware game, magic has been considered a powerful tool for destroying crowds of enemies, but also bosses, from a safe distance. This is no different in Elden Ring, but spells have changed and the necessary soft and hard caps have been adjusted.
Magic is better than ever and that’s why there are always lively discussions about the alleged easy mode build.
The build we’re showing you focuses entirely on wisdom and spells paired with an additional melee weapon. So if your FP runs out and you can no longer conjure spells, you have a good alternative to send opponents fleeing.
This is how you level properly for this build
Why is this build so strong? Mage builds that focus solely on wisdom are powerful because they allow you to dominate at medium distances and especially long-range combat with powerful spells.
Our featured build not only covers all ranges to get rid of annoying enemies, but also gives you the opportunity to do massive damage to bosses. To do this, however, you have to be flexible, dress appropriately in every situation and equip the necessary spells.
What is the best way to level for this build? Your main attribute that you will focus on when leveling is Wisdom. The higher your wisdom, the stronger your spells become.
In addition, you can equip better items that increase your damage numbers many times over. Furthermore, a high level of the “Spirit” attribute is required in order to be able to cast spells more often.
Our build is intended for more advanced players and has level 150. We also pay attention to the “soft caps”, i.e. the values after which investments are hardly worthwhile:
If you also want to play PvP in the long term, you should be careful not to take your character above level 150. The community currently sees this as a meta level and has largely agreed not to level beyond it.
Because in PvP you only find players who have a similar level to you, you can hardly track down opponents if your level is too high. Because you have to redistribute all the ‘purchased’ levels when reskilling, you cannot reduce this investment again – the only salvation here is a completely new character.
However, this value of 150 is not yet set in stone. Some people in the community believe that 125 should be the meta level.
Weapons and wands for the mage build
This is our choice: Since Wisdom is taken to the extreme in this build, there isn’t much room for other attributes to be considered. That’s why we choose the following equipment:
Since magic wands are only good if they have a high magic scaling, the choice of wands is very limited.
We therefore have two shimmerstone staffs equipped in our right hand, as both have their uses.
The Staff of Lusat is considered the best staff for dealing the most damage, but at the cost of increased FP consumption when casting. This isn’t worth it if you’re traveling and want to tackle higher “New Game Plus” runs, where enemies can withstand more damage and you have to cast spells more often.
That’s why we also included the “Carian Royal Scepter”, as it still has solid spell scaling and drains less FP from you when casting spells.
The shield “Jellyfish Shield” fits in the left hand, as it can not only absorb 100% physical damage, but also gives you a damage buff. The buff appears as soon as you activate the corresponding talent.
When the buff is activated, you have to hold the shield in your left hand, so it can be used perfectly with a magic wand. You benefit from a bonus in damage and can still protect yourself.

Which magic hat is the right one?
You should have these with you: It is important to take the individual headgear into account when using magic. There are specimens that strengthen different types of magic or give you a boost to your attributes. We have picked out the following for you:
It’s up to you which hat or crown you want to wear. However, it would be a good idea to wear the Shimmerstone Crown of Azure if you want to use the Azure Comet spell against a boss. This strengthens the spell, but you use more FP when casting the spell.
However, if you are just traveling, you should put on the big preceptor hat. Not only does this look cool, but it increases your spirit by three points. However, your endurance suffers minimally.
Which talismans should I take? We can only give you a recommendation on your selection, as every player has their own priorities when it comes to bonuses. Despite the recommendation, you are free to decide which talisman you want to use or exchange. These are our talismans:
We included the dragon shield talisman in our selection because as magicians we have few life points but also low defense due to the light armor. This talisman gives you a small boost to your general defense so you can take more hits.
You should also pay attention to this: Don’t forget your bottle of miraculous medicine. With it you can use Tears of the Elden Trees to create tinctures that give you special bonuses. For boss fights, the mixture “Sky Blue Secret Tear” and “Opalen Blister Tear” is worth it.
This not only allows you to summon Azure’s Comet for a short time without any FP costs, but also gives you an impenetrable bubble that protects you from any damage. However, this bubble bursts once you get hit.
The best spells for the mage build
Which spells should I use? Here too we can only give you our recommendation, as Elden Ring has many spells that could be useful for every magician. Nevertheless, we will show you the following spells that you shouldn’t miss:
That’s all you need to know about our best Mage build for Elden Ring. You can change or adopt many of our recommendations as you wish. However, pay attention to the hard cap on your wisdom and the idol mass talisman to get the maximum damage from your magic.
