Elvira Öberg’s latest Instagram picture was not appreciated by the followers.
Now the biathlon star hits back at the criticism.
– I don’t want to take down the post, says Öberg to Expressen.
Last season ended Elvira Öberg in fifth place in the overall World Cup. Before and during the winter Biathlon World Cup, she also had major problems with illness, and could only participate in three races. But at least she won her first WC medal, a bronze in the relay.
Soon season premiere
On the last weekend of November, Saturday the 25th, the Biathlon World Cup finally kicks off. This year, the World Cup starts in Östersund, where the shooters stay until December 3rd, before it leaves for Hochfilzen in Austria. The schedule in Östersund includes, among other things, relay, sprint and pursuit start.

Before that, however, our Swedish biathletes will perform their Swedish premiere, and that next weekend. As usual, it is in Idre that invites the skiers to the first competition of the year on snow. The shooters are already on site in Idre for a camp before the season premiere. But before the camp, the riders got some time off to recharge their batteries before the season gets underway in earnest.
Elvira Öberg’s criticism
Then Elvira Öberg set off for the mountains with her father Tomas Öberg. One of the activities that awaited father and daughter was hunting. Something Elvira posted about on Instagram, a picture that can be seen below.
In the picture, the biathlete poses with a dead animal. Something that upset several followers. Now the 24-year-old is fighting back against the criticism.
– I knew that I would probably get varying reactions to this picture. Not everyone understands that culture, or not the culture that way, but hunting and outdoor life are alien to quite a few. So I was somehow still prepared for the fact that there will not only be positive reactions, says Elvira Öberg to Expressen.

The biathlete says she will not take down the picture as a result of the criticism, but she has taken other measures.
– I see Instagram as a forum where I show off what I do and like. I have had to remove some comments, or I wanted to because I have a responsibility too, says Öberg to the evening newspaper.
