Now comes a neat fit for the skiing star – from none other than her sister.

It was after an interview with SVT that Frida Karlsson became unfriended by an entire Finnish town. Days after the terrorist attack in Brussels, where two Swedish supporters were shot to death, Frida Karlsson was asked whether she feels safe when she is out competing. Frida Karlsson obviously did not mean to slam the Finnish city of Ruka, but the statement created strong reactions in Finland.

Had to apologize

Frida Karlsson has said in retrospect that she expressed herself rudely, when she said the following:

“It is obviously terrible what happened. At the same time, we travel to places like Ruka or Livigno. It’s like small shit places and maybe not the worst “terror sites”. And the headlines didn’t linger, about Frida Karlsson calling Ruka, where the World Cup premiere takes place every year, a “shithole”.

Frida Karlsson was forced, with all clarity, to apologize to Finland, and also added that she thinks Ruka is “very nice”.
