(Finance) – There will be approximately 8 million and 369 thousand Italians who will travel on the occasion of the All Saints long weekend. 89.8% of Italian holidaymakers will stay in the Bel Paese (66.2% in the region of residence) while 10.2% will go abroador. Those who remain in Italy will primarily choose the sea (29.1%), the art locations (24.7%) and the mountains (21.5%).

The numbers emerge from the survey Federalberghi according to which the overall turnover will be around 3.77 billion euros but the result could have been even greater if it had not been for the increase in prices that is characterizing this period. In fact, almost half of holidaymakers (45.5%) have decided to reduce spending on this holiday precisely because of inflation.

A boost to departures it also comes from the Autumn festivals, dedicated to seasonal specialties such as chestnuts, mushrooms and truffles as well as pumpkins, protagonists of Halloween, which attract the interest of 7 out of 10 Italians among those who go on holiday and those who take advantage of it for a trip out of town. This is what emerges from an analysis by Coldiretti/Ixè released on the occasion of the anniversary of November 1st which, despite the unfavorable location, is confirmed as an unmissable event for many citizens, including those who take advantage of it for a trip and those who will not miss the traditional visit to their loved ones even in the cemeteries of their countries of origin.

Food and wine tourism is the great protagonist of the autumn season with the discovery of festivals and fairs which is a real trend also driven by the need to contain expenses, but also to re-establish a more direct relationship with food, culture and territorial traditions, with initiatives to valorise local products with festivals organized throughout Italy, in small and large centres. There will be several events over the weekend, starting with the truffle festival in Acqualagna, Enrico Mattei’s birthplace, where Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will also be present.

What drives the phenomenon is the fact that Italycan count on over 25 thousand agritourisms spread throughout the national territory, 5450 specialties are obtained according to traditional rules continued over time for at least 25 years registered by the Regions, 320 Dop/Igp specialties recognized at community level and 415 Doc/Docg wines, the leadership in the organic sector with around 86 thousand organic farms and 10 thousand farmers in direct sales with Campagna Amica and the numerous valorisation initiatives, from festivals to wine routes.
