More people receive assistance compensation

434 people were granted assistance compensation during the period January to July this year, which is 165 more people compared to the corresponding period last year. At the same time, 210 children received assistance compensation, compared to 135 children in the period 2022.

At the same time, significantly more people are applying for assistance compensation, who have not received the compensation before. During the period January to July this year, the increase was 58 percent compared to the same period last year.

The assistance allowance is money to pay the salary of a personal assistant. At the turn of the year, a new reform on a strengthened right to personal assistance came into effect, which aimed to strengthen the right to personal assistance for people with a mental disability, self-care efforts and through a more limited parental deduction.

When it has only been a short time since the changes to the law came into force, it is too early to draw any conclusions about the increases that are being felt now, writes Försäkringskassan.
