Some films, whether you like them or not, are always remembered with a certain feeling of retching. Hostel is one of them for many. The film by Quentin Tarantino’s friend Eli Roth (Inglourious Basterds) is considered one of the milestones of torture horror. Today it’s on TV.

Hostel is about three young friends who go on a vacation trip through Eastern Europe together. The promise of sexual adventures lures backpackers to Bratislava, but in Slovakia all that awaits them is a dark club of rich people want to torture and kill innocent people for money. Beware, spoilers!

Hostel is a nightmarish trip full of disturbing scenes, but many will have one sequence in particular that sticks in their minds: To put a tortured woman (Jennifer Lim) out of her torment, protagonist Paxton (Jay Hernandez) decides to to cut off her hanging eye with scissors. The explicit part of the scene lasts less than 20 seconds, but most viewers can never forget it.
