Red Bull driver Max Verstappen himself held the previous record of 15 victories which he set last season.

It was all the more difficult for home driver Sergio Pérez. The Mexican, also in Red Bull, came into contact with Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc and collided. Pérez was therefore forced to break at the same time as the red flag was raised.

Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes finished second and third was Charles Leclerc.
